Each artist reflects characteristics of the corresponding art period in history. Miniature painting was established as classical art in Turkish painting and could not get a foothold with the copying technique in the post-Republican era. The courageous, creative, innovative and unique brushstrokes of artist Hüseyin Kandemir show efforts to earn miniature a seat in the art of painting within its own borders through a warm and friendly approach.
Miniature artists studied the palace and its environs, voyages, festivities and religious subjects. They weren't interested in the public or people's lives and therefore excluded those subjects. Kandemir's reference point is based on the opinion that "a style that doesn't fit into the life of the public and its socio-economic affairs is doomed to disappear over time." He dedicated his works to the heroes who left this beautiful country to us in the post-Republican era, hence to the War of Independence and to the people of Anatolia who gave courage to those heroes.
Every artist takes heart from the past. Hüseyin Kandemir brought together the famous art of miniature of the past and the Great Leader Atatürk, founder of the Great Republic of Türkiye and has treated in every detail the harsh conditions and emotions of the years of struggle during the foundation of the republic with the purpose of carrying them to future generations. While doing this, he gained strength from Anatolian people, "the masters of the nation" in the words of Atatürk. In recent years, he has created works in watercolor on paper and miniature/ landscape and has brought a new dimension to the art of miniature.
Hüseyin Kandemir was born in Karaman in 1959. He graduated from the Department of Traditional Turkish Arts of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1986 and obtained his graduate degree from the Ceramics Art Major Department of the same faculty.
