Pınar Kalem was born in Istanbul in 1970. She graduated from the Department of Spanish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Literature of Istanbul University in 1993.
She studied patterns and oil painting in New York Parsons School between 1993 and 1995. She received training in visual narrative in Steven Scott Gallery and Light House Gallery in Maryland.
She also attended Maisons-Alfort workshops in Paris and spatula workshops in Dover and Amiens conducted her artistic research and works on the spatula technique.
Her works are among numerous collections both nationwide and across the globe. She still works in her workshop in Arnavutköy, Istanbul and continues to hold personal and group exhibitions both at home and abroad.
